Christmas Shopping Done Easy

With so much hectic activity around our house with both me and my hubby working now it is more important than ever for us to save time and money in our Christmas shopping. We have discovered "Black Friday" websites which take most of the effort out of the shopping for us. They have links to all the great retail sites that we shop from everyday with the great "Black Friday deals" that we love. It's great to be able to stay home and simply browse through the sites for the thanksgiving day sale instead of fighting through the crowds at the mall in desperation to get 1 of the deals before they sell out. This year for Christmas the kids are searching, wanting a Wii and using the site we were able to find a Wii Bundle Deal at Toys R Us and save money and effort by ordering it online. I know the kids will be excited this Christmas morning for sure which is good because now that we live about 5 hours away from home and my hubby has to work on Boxing day it's too hard to get home for Christmas day to visit with family so we need something new and exciting to fill the day in with the kids. If you are interested in saving time, money and frustration you should check out the deals from all your favorite stores in this one great location, good luck and happy deal shopping.

Getting Ready for a Visit

We are going home for a visit this weekend for the first time in 4 months, it has been a long time away. It is going to be hectic because it is Halloween on Friday so the kids are excited about that and on Saturday it's my baby's 4th birthday. My Halloween baby as I say because he was almost born on Halloween. We are keeping the kids out of school on Friday so we can get home and set up for Trick or treating on time. I'll report back after we get home to let you all know how it went.

Do you need help

It can be a scary realization when you hit that moment that you realize you need help and your not sure what direction to turn. Once you've made the choice it's time to find a private rehab centre that can match your needs and give you the support to get you better and turn your life around. You can make the changes in your life that you need to for yourself, your friends and your family but it takes your desire to make the diffence.

Going Home For Halloween

It has been a while since we have been home to visit with our family but the time has come and I have the weekend off so home we will go. Not only will we be celebrating Halloween but it's Blake's 4th birthday and we will celebrate this day with family and friends! So with this being said I have lots to get done around the house, packing to do and birthday shopping to get finished, which shouldn't be hard all he wants is transformers!

New Skates

Skateing starts for the kids next week so we knew Kohl would need new skates as his were too small last year. We went out shopping to see what we could find and managed to find some on our first stop. He really liked them and is getting excited to get back on the ice. He figures because he's older he won't fall down this year. We discussed and he knows that if he falls down he will be getting back up.

Learning to Read

Having a big family can be challangeing and rewarding, I find with each child comes a earlier desire to learn. My youngest being the earliest he spends his days wanting to learn everything his older siblings know. He was the earliest to learn colors, numbers, letters and has a better ability to understand letter sounds than any of our other kids. He's at the stage now that he wants to put everything together and begin to read. I was excited about this and wanted to find a fun way to help him learn to read better, searching I found a program called Little Reader which allows you to create on your own home computer using your own pictures and content, flash cards to help you teach your little ones to read. It's very exciting for him to be able to use this to learn while also recognizing things around him in his everyday life. It's exciting to watch his potential develop and grow and his love for reading become so entrenched into his daily life.

The Heat is ON

I had to break down today and put the heat on throughout the house. I have been fighting it for a while now with blankets and slippers but today, no way. It was so cold I couldn't help but crank all the heaters on to take the chill off the house. I could here the money draining through the oil pipes but it had to happen eventually, at least I made it almost to the end of October first. How's the weather in your area, have you cranked your heat yet?

Time for a New Look

My husband has been wanting to get a new suit for work for quite a while, he hasn't bought a new suit for a few years and it is time for him to update his style. Now it's also time for him to step up and get a more professional suit, in the past he has always bought his suits right off the rack and although they looked nice they never fit perfect in every way. I began searching for Made to Measure suits to find something for him that would fit properly. There business is built on getting you custom made suits in as little as two weeks. The team of specialists will work with you to design the suit the best meets your body style and budget with suits starting at 499. We shopped through the site and for him we are looking for a single pleat plant with a 3 button jacket, of course for him in a dark(black) pin stripe fabric to suit his style. While browsing throught their website we were able to actually book an appointment to have a fitting completed. It will be exciting to see what a really well made suit will look like on my husband.

So U think you can dance

Well with a long part of the week now over, hubby returned from his business trip tonight so we can get back on track. Tommorrow we are both off work for the day, I work at night, so we are going into town and getting some work done on the van and I'm getting my hair done, first time in a long time so I'm excited about that. For now I'm going to kick back and watch "so you think you can dance Canada" for a while before we had to bed.

SETTLING IN FOR THE NIGHT!

I am home early from work tonight for a change and am getting ready to call it a night. Hubby just called so I won't be expecting his late night call that will keep me awake. The kids made out great with the sitter. Blake got put in time out twice tonight but I was just glad that Jessica put her foot down and didn't let him get away with everything. Tomorrow I have the day off and I'm looking forward to it but if I have the chance to pick up a late shift then I will now that our hours have cut back. Tomorrow night hubby flies back home and we can get thing back in routine around here, well at least try to! Not much new around here, the weather is getting colder and colder and we've been having rain and high winds so I should turn up the heat before going to bed.

Home Makeover

When we relocated for my husbands work last summer there was so much excitement, a new job, new school for the kids, a new community and the biggest thing was a huge house we bought. It was probably 3 times the size of our old house, now the big problem we faced was how do you fill this big house up? Our furniture came into the house and it still looked empty so we new we were in trouble.
We are a young family so we wanted to make our living room fit our style so we wanted to fill it up with Modern Furniture that would work for us and still be functional for the kids. We had so many choices to choose from it took us a while to come to an agreement on how to set up the room. We also looked at some Contemporary Furniture styles for our dining and rec rooms. Now the rec room was a bit of a stretch because we couldn't decide what kind of direction to go and we even looked at some Italian Furniture designs but in the end we decided to go with the more modern styles.
After we got all our rooms finished we finally moved onto the biggest project, we really wanted to take the time to make it right. Our bedroom had been neglected for years and our bedroom set really needed to be replaced so we moved onto the hunt for Bedroom Furniture. This was a bit easier because we at least new we wanted to go with a dark wood and a modern look so we were able to come to an agreement on this room much easier and have plans to have it all finished in the next couple of months.

The spaghetti fiasco

Well after 2 long weeks we are finally done selling spaghetti dinner tickets as a fund raiser for my daughters trip to New York next summer. She managed to sell 100 tickets at a profit of 2.5 each so she raised 250 of her 700 deposit that is due tommorrow. We were able to get the rest of the funds raised from my first paycheque:0( and donations from grandma's that live far away and couldn't make use of the dinner tickets. We were glad today when the final ones were sold and we could move onto the next fundraiser, chocolate bars yippee.

Shopping Online

With the explosion of online shopping how do you know where it's safe to shop and where it's not. You give up so much information about yourself by shopping on-line that the exposure to identity theft is huge. How are we to know what sites are reputable and what ones are using our information for things other than our purchase. There is now a site created to do just that they do the reserch and compile lists of safe sites to shop from, buySAFE will offer safe shopping ratings, a list of bonded merchants you can shop through their portal, purchase guarantee up to 25,000 on your purchases and 30 day indentity theft protection. For me I normally only purchase from sites I know are reputable business, like Staples, HBC, Sears etc that way I have confidence in their systems because I have shopped with them for years. The last things I bought were a tent from Sears and a Camera from Staples, I never have had any significant issues purchasing things online but again I tend to avoid companies that I don't know, using the buySAFE program will allow me to expand my shopping experience to a whole new level. If your an online shopper you really need this sort of protection to safe guard yourself from Identity Theft which can cost you so much. Checkout the site for more information on their services and sign up today for more protection when shopping online.

What a baby

Well last night around midnight when I was just getting into a good sleep out of now where there was a huge crash, boom sound followed by a downpour of rain. A huge thunder storm had rolled in and was dumping on us bigtime. This of course woke up the puppy from her sleep and she wasn't happy. She was whining terribly so we had to bring her into bed with us before she woke up the kids. She wasn't long cuddleing up by our feet knowing if she didn't behave she was going back to the kennel. It really is just like having a baby in the house. We made it through the night and it actually worked out better because once she went out for her "P" at midnight and got soaked she wasn't going out again and slept through the night which meant Hubby got to sleep through the night too. :O)

Better Education

I have always wanted to upgrade my education but have had a hard time with raising my children and moving around unpredicatably as my husbands job demanded. I have begun to search around for alternatives to traditional courses and found that there are online degree programs that I can complete from the comfort of my own home while still caring for the kids and my household responsibilities. Capella is the leader in online university programs and is a fully accredited facility. They are currently serving over 23,000 students from all over the United States and over 45 other countries from all over the World. They offer a variety of programs from business, information technology, education, HR services and many more. If you are interested in growing your education but can't afford to stop your life to do it you owe it to yourself to look into these alternatives.

This blog post was based on information provided by Blogitive. For more information, please visit Blogitive.com

The puppy needs a walk

Well a few months in and it finally started, at first the kids were great with the puppy.
They would take her for a walk around the block every night, make sure she had food and water and would hang out with her around the house. The novelty is wearing off and it's a fight now to get them to take her for a walk. Her food/water bowls would stay empty for days if I didn't mention or fill them myself. Worst of all when she's out of the kennel everyone ignores her and she gets into everything, she eats the carpet in my bedroom , ate the corner of our tv/stand, ripped up the floor by the front door. What a frustrating stage she is in and the kids certainly aren't helping, errrrrr.

My favorite treat

One of my favorite treats are M&M's, there are so many great types of M&M's, my hubby loves peanut butter M&M's which are a little harder to find but they are really good. What's your favorite M&M, plain, dark, peanut, almond, crispy or peanut butter, or perhaps is there a different kind where you live that maybe I didn't list. Let me know what you think.

Just couldn't wait

Blake really wanted to play his Gameboy but when he went to get it he had discovered the battery was dead. We plugged it into the charger and told him to leave it to charge up but being Blake he couldn't wait so he pulled up one of his chairs and started playing while it was still charging. It works but takes a little longer to charge this way. He didn't seem to mind sitting in the middle of the kitchen and had a great time

All smiles

A surprise arrived in the mail recently at our house, a envelope arrived with the mail man and it turned out to be a be-lated birthday card for Blake. He was very excited to open up this gift and find a delectable McD's gift card. He is going to hang onto this for a special occasion when he really wants a treat. Thanks to Auntie Birdie for the gift, you made his day for sure.

My work week is almost over

Today is my last day of my first week of work, I am taking live orders now with my training behind me. I am really enjoying the new job and wonder now why I didn't try this earlier. It has been a busy week but it has also gone by very fast. My schedule is flexible enough so far that I am able to work around hubby's schedule, which is important to make sure the kids are properly taken care of and get to all their evening activities.

Saving Big on Accessories

I love accessories and the more I can get for my budget the better, I just started a new job and it's the first job I have had outside the house (4kids) in almost 4 years. With this situation I had to trade in my comfy pants and get a working wardrobe again. It was exciting to think of being around big people on a daily basis, ah the possibility of not singing the theme to elmo in my head during the afternoon. When I started getting my outfits together I really needed some new accessories to go with them. Searching for Discount Jewelry was kind of fun and the great styles I was able to find were incredible. I was even able to shop from home at sites like holsted jewelers they had an incredible selection of pieces and sets at fantastic prices. Reserching their background they have been in the jewelry business for almost 30 years and pride themselves on incredible quality at fantastic prices and offering unique products that you won't find in any store.

Breast Awareness

Well it's October and it's national breast cancer awareness month. It's great to see this movement grow in recognition year after year. You can see evidence everywhere you go, local stores have displays dedicated to pink merchandise and many manufactures make special products to allow you to show your support of this great cause. The most unique product I saw so far this year is pink bathroom tissue from Cottonelle. Now to have official markings on their products a donation must be made to the breast cancer foundation. Let's all hope these little gestures will add up to a future without breast cancer.
