CURLING...
The grade 6 classes from the school went into Sydney to the curling club to learn how to curl. This was Jay's first time curling and he loved it! One thing about this school that I love is the way they get the kids out there to try new and different things. Keeping the kids active and interested in what they are doing is one of their main goals and it is great for all the students. Unfortunately with the weather this winter they missed out on all their trips to the sliding hill but we did get them there a few times and had a blast.

SPRING CLEANING....
Well it is officially Spring and although the weather is still pretty cold I am getting in the mood to start my spring cleaning! I am starting to open up the curtains on the windows to allow the warmth of the sunlight into the house and I'm in the process of removing the french doors from my computer room to help open up the house. I am off to a slow start but it is a start. Now only if I had a place to store some of the junk I have laying around....I am still trying to places for things since we moved in almost a year ago. Hopefully with getting started early I will be ready for the outdoor spring cleaning as soon it gets warmer! I can't wait to get outside :0)

Plastic Recycled
Without even being aware of it we all are part of recycling in the world we live in. Many of the products we use everyday are made from recycled products and in turn can in many cases can be recycled if proper care is taken in there disposal. Recycled plastic material is one of the most common materials that we deal with everyday. Everything from beverage bottles to the plastic wrap used on foods and snacks is made from a form of recycled plastic. Even the plastic plumbing pipes or your laundry soap container is made from this high density plastic. As part of a good recycling program in your home it is important to understand how to properly sort, clean and recycle the products you bring into your home everyday.

PLUG IN AIR FRESHENERS....
......DO YOU USE THEM IN YOUR HOUSE?
I did until I read an email that I got from my aunt...
House fires--please read!!!!!
Received from a friend who is in the insurance property business.
The original message was written by a lady whose brother and wife learned a hard lesson this past week.
Their house burnt down.. nothing left but ashes.
They have good insurance so the house will be replaced and most of the contents. That is the good news.
However, they were sick when they found out the cause of the fire.
The insurance investigator sifted through the ashes for several hours. He had the cause of the fire traced to the master bathroom. He asked her sister-in-law what she had plugged inthe bathroom. She listed the normal things....curling iron, blow dryer. He kept saying to her, 'No, this would be something that would disintegrate at high temperatures'. Then her sister-in-law remembered she had a Glade Plug-In, in the bathroom.
The investigator had one of those 'Aha' moments. He said that was the cause of the fire. He said he has seen more house fires started with the plug-in type room fresheners than anything else. He said the plastic they are made from is THIN.
He also said that in every case there was nothing left to prove that it even existed. When the investigator looked in the wall plug, the two prongs left from the plug-in were still in there.
Her sister-in-law had one of the plug-ins that had a small night light built in it. She said she had noticed that the light would dim and then finally go out. She would walk in to the bathroom a few hours later, and the light would be back on again.
The investigator said that the unit was getting too hot, and would dim and go out rather than just blow the light bulb. Once it cooled down it would come back on. That is a warning sign. The investigator said he personally wouldn't have any type of plug in fragrance device anywhere in his house. He has seen too many places that have been burned down due to them.

NO SCHOOL...BLIZZARD!
I was not looking forward to the kids having school today because it was skating day which meant a long hectic day for me...don't get me wrong I love it when the kids get to go on outings and they do enjoy skating but after the busy week just before March Break running back and forth to the school for skating, talent shows and so much more and then having a very busy week away from home, I am in no mood to do more running around than I need to. To my surprise we woke up this morning to a blizzard and yes school was cancelled. No running around for me today and I think it will be a lazy day!
WEIGHT LOSS...
I have heard that losing your last 5-10 pounds is hard but I never thought it would be this hard. Ok... Ok I know that there is a lot more that I could be doing to help but last time I lost weight is just melted away without hardly any work involved just changing what I was eating. Not this time that isn't working at all. This time I am going to have to put some work into it and hopefully really really soon I will have a treadmill to help me out. Hmmm what to do about my belly flab?
I still have plenty of time before the summer arrives and I am more then determined to get those last 5 pounds off! Well I guess it's up to 6 lbs now. I did put on another pound while away on vacation :0( It will happen, I just need the tools to help me along the way! All I need is patients.

Horse Dreams
Having grown up on a farm my husband has been around animals all his life, a love of animals big and small was instilled in his home throughout the years. A couple of years ago his father sold the family farmstead and moved into a smaller homestead. In the downsize he had to decide what he would continue to have for animals and what to give up. It was a beautiful building and was the right size for his horses so he decided to keep those and sell off the rest of his animals. He had only caught the horse bug in the last few years so he wanted to continue with learning more about these beautiful animals. He looked into some networks to help him find Horses for sale or trade - Used Horse Trailers - Everything for the equine lover and Horse Chit Chat is a great equine classified that will give him bonus ads to their 12 networks with no extra cost! He can find what he is looking for and also check out their services and events.
As we moved 5 hours away we had step back from our daily help around the farm and we don't get enough time to visit as much as we would like but are hoping that in the future my husbands work will open up an opportunity back home and we can transfer back there to spend time caring for his horses.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
Along with St Patrick's Day we have our usually run through the house, looking for something green for the kids to wear to school. Being away for March Break threw us off and I forgot all about it until we got up this morning. However we did manage to throw together some green and out the door we went. Later today at the school, Blake (3 years old) was asked if he knew why he was wearing green and he replied " because that's what my mommy picked out for me!" The teachers got a laugh LOL.

OYSTERS BEWARE!
Living her in a Maritime province we love our Gulf oysters! I personally only eat such foods during the summer months but for many they are eaten all year round. But are you aware of the risks that come with consuming raw oysters? Be aware of Vibrio Vulnificus and raw oysters and learn about post harvest processes and oyster valued added products. These processes now allow the oyster to be consumed raw, but with safely features added to reduce Vibrio Vulnificus. Are you an at risk consumer of oysters? Check out BeOysterAware.com to find out more and better understand the health conditions that effect at risk consumers and also enjoy easy to prepare meals.

Garden Vegetable Sandwiches....?
Have you ever heard of Garden Vegetable Sandwiches? My grandmother was talking about them yesterday when we were visiting her and she was trying to find the recipe for them. I have never heard of such a sandwich but she says that they are delicious! I guess I should find some time tonight to browse Google to see what I can come up with for her. She is so fascinated by the Internet and the information that can be found so she gave me a list of things to look up for her LOL

MORE EXCITEMENT PLANNED....:0)
We have arrived at Grandma and Grandpa's house and it sounds like we are going to have a busy couple of days. Today the kids are going swimming at the YMCA and a turkey dinner tonight to celebrate Trinity's birthday once again. (she usually ends up with three small parties). If plans go as planned we are taking the kids to the sugar woods tomorrow and I am hoping to get lots of nice pictures there. Weather permitting of course. Although it has been a great time away with the kids, everyone is starting to get tired and looking forward to sleeping in our own beds but until then we will enjoy our time with the family.

Money Savings
With a big family we are all about saving money anything we can do to save a little will go to something else we need for the house. Coupon Chief is a fantastic place to find all kinds of deals from different retailers and services. It's tax time so we took advantage of great Turbotax deals and after we got our refund it was time to head over to Dell Deals to get a new lap top for the house.
March Break the next stage
We are wrapping up our visit here in Moncton and are getting ready to start heading back home. After packing up the van today we are heading off to visit Matt's parents for a couple of days before we head back home. There is supposed to be a storm coming over the weekend so we will see if it will cut our trip short or make it longer? The kids are having a blast so far but starting to get a little tired out, they will be off to bed early tonight.

Luxury Bedding
We were recently looking to enrich our bedroom of our new home, this beautiful victorian home with giant window and beautiful hardwood floors in our bedroom needed a fresh look. We decided on a hand stretched silk comforter to create the look we were so exciteted to have. It had been so long since we have had a well decorated bedroom for ourselves and it really was everything we were looking for. The new comforter provides warmth but is very light weight and durable which should allow us to enjoy for years to come.

As a successful woman like you knows, gold digging goes both ways these days. |

A GOOD NIGHT SLEEP
I was hoping that Sunday night after a long busy day at Crystal Palace Amusement park that the kids would sleep in and get some much needed rest but it didn't happen because Blake woke up early crying with a sore ear and wouldn't take any medicine for the pain quietly. So everyone got an early start to the day which wasn't good because we had another busy and long day ahead. I went to the emergency clinic with my mom to have Blake's ears checked and sure enough his left ear was infected. Poor little guy. After waiting almost 5 hours he was seen and we then headed to the amusement park to meet up with the other kids. We ended up having fun and Blake continued on his day like nothing was wrong but was ready for bed when we got back to my parents house and a good night sleep he had.

The Golden Age
In today's society we find people living much longer lives than we are accustomed to 20+ years ago. With advances in healthcare and a better awareness of how important general well being is we as a society are finding ourselves much better equiped to continue our employment well into our "senior" years. Another advantage is the baby boomers are approaching retirement age and that is creating a void and drag on the work force as many employers are finding they are lacking skilled workers. This is opening up a whole new group of opportunities for people in their 50's+. As we grow older we can find ourselves unable to continue in our life choice of a career whether that is by physical demands or work hours. There are many different carrers that can lend themselves to a life smart person that can still be a productive part of the workforce. Some of us find that as we have worked the majority of our life time but haven't put enough away to live as comfortably as we may need to so that can also force us a little bit to stay in the work force past our regular retirement age. Alot of companies will offer their employees early retirement packages and this allows people the opportunity to make a late life style change to possibly change careers to new opportunities they may have never thought of. Companies like SeniorCareerSource.com are designed to assist mature people in seeking out new careers and wanting to cut through the stigmatism that older people can't be a productive part of the work force.175 Whatever your reason for wanting to continue on your working career there are opportunities to do what you want to do if you continue to plan and present yourself in a professional manner.
Check it out....Petula made her very own award to pass around to her blogging friends and I got one! Thank you so much Petula, you rock!
I am going to pass the "Diamond of a Woman" award on to Jenn, Tammy, Misty, Anna, Jocelyn and Darlene. Here you go girls!
SUNSET AT THE CAMPGROUND / 2007
I just posted my favorite sunset photo on my ranting of a woman blog but I wanted to share this one as well. This was taken last summer at Murray Beach, New Brunswick where we spend our summer vacation. This was the view from our lot and it was amazing to see every night! I always complain that I don't get good pictures of the sky but forgot all about the beautiful sunsets I captured last summer.
New Car Insurance
We recently moved and when we did the insurance company that covered our Car Insurance policies in our old address couldn't cover us here in our new province, this forced us to go shopping around for new representation. We eventually settled on using a company that gave group rates at my husbands work. All was well and good until one day I was driving out on the highway and something hit our windshield, after the inital shock wore off and I could pull up the courage to call Hubby and tell him what happened. I don't know why I was nervouse of course he was concerned whether I was alright more than the van. We thought we would have a hard time with the insurance as we just got the policy a couple of weeks ago but they were super and had a new windshield in the van the next day. Our bad luck continued as a couple of weeks later we got rear ended at a stop sign, luckily there was no damage to the van but our daughter was taken to hospital as she was having neck pains. All was well and after a few days she was back to normal, a few weeks later we got hit with a 600.00 bill for the ambulance ride. We decided to call the insurance company and we were thrilled with the service they gave us, they looked after the bill quickly and really were professional with us.
WEIGH IN TUESDAY...
I started off pretty good with my weight loss but for the last few weeks I am not losing anything...good news I am not gaining either. I feel like I have flat lined lol. I really can't be too hard on myself because with the cold, messy and slippery winter weather I am not getting out walking anymore and I have been driving the kids to school everyday which is very sad because it's only a 10 minute walk. I just don't like taking my little boy out in the freezing cold. So enough with the excuses....I am sure the last 5 pounds will come off when I get out walking again!
Congrats to everyone who is continuing to lose weight. Keep it up!

A FUN FILLED SATURDAY...
All our fun and excitement really started last night after the kids hip hop class. I quickly ran home and picked up Jay and headed to the church so the kids could attend a 3 day winter Bible camp. It went from 6 - 8 pm last night and the kids had a great time with songs, crafts, games and food! Blake was pretty good considering the time of night but he had lots of fun and was proud to be there. The kids went back today from 2 - 4 pm for the same fun and games only this time Blake was on his best behavior until it was game time...lol what a kid! I now know not to let this kid play hockey, he is a fighter....lol the kids finished their crafts from yesterday and tomorrow will be attending the church to show the adults all the fun they had over the weekend.
I am sure it will be lots of fun!
NINTENDO Wii ACCESSORIES
I have been looking into Wii accessories on the Internet and Lightinthebox.com was a website that really got my attention with what it has to offer. Not only did I find what I was looking for but so much more from other game systems and accessories to cell phones, laptops, cameras, jewelery and the list goes on and on and on, you get my point! These items are wholesale from China and gives you more choices and more fun. I was so amazed at what this website had to offer and if you think that the Nintendo Wii game system is out of your price range then check out the Vii machine made in China, it is similar looking to the Wii but being sold at a much lower price. Check it out I'm sure you will find something that will interest you.
