Christmas Countdow

It's official, 2 days left until we hit Christmas, we are trying to finish up our shopping and hit Christmas spirit here today. We will hit the mall and the grocery store so we can hopefully spend Christmas eve together as a family and spend time together without all the hustle of the mall. Last minute shopping

Oh my the malls are busy, we went out as a family today to try and finish up our shopping, I can't believe there is only 3 days left. We managed to spend the entire afternoon out shopping up a storm and for the most part the kids were well behaved. There was so much more I would have loved to have gotten them this year but we really just had to stop buying stuff. They will have some surprises for Christmas morning and that is the important thing.

Christmas Baking fun

We had a great afternoon after the Christmas parade went by the house it was time to do some Christmas Baking. We made our traditional shortbread cookies and a family favorite cinniman cookies. It's Crunch Time

Ok this is it, the final days before Christmas and we need to get as much finished as possible with the little bit of time we have yet. The morning was going to be a good chance for us as all the kids were home from school and we were going to leave them with our oldest but he made some plans to go to a friends overnight so we will now be taking the kids along with us which will make the shopping much more challangeing. It will soon be over anyway so we will make the best of our morning and see where we are after that.

It's that time of year when the stores start to get so busy, it's funny because not only are the stores busy but everything gets busy. House

I am enjoying a nice little break to watch my favorite show, House. I always enjoy how they work through the story and in the end come up with some sort of miraculous discovery to save the patient. Tonight was really great with lot's of intrigue and House actually apologizing, of course by the end we discovered in true House fashion he lied about his apology to get what he wanted, go figure but I think that is why people love the show so much.

Oh Christmas Tree

We got to decorate our Christmas tree over the weekend and it turned out great, this was the first year with our new decorations, gold and burgandy. Lego Crazy

Bearly Funny

Wednesday was take your kids to work day and Jay and Dad went to work at the store for the day. We were surprised that he enjoyed the afternoon so much that he wanted to go back for the night shift too. He spent his evening putting out toys and that's where he was when he got picked up. The kids came too and they all gravitated right to a boxy of new teddy bears that were going out, there were 4 different bears and without a thought they each picked one out and claimed it as their own. Dance Gear made fun

It is exciting, we love to see a good plan come together. The dance school wanted some new outfits and tracksuits to enjoy and bring the students together. A skiiing we will go

It's official now we finally have the last of our skiing gear for the family. We started skiing as a family last year and everyone took to it and we had a great time together. Hereafter Afterthought

We went to see Hereafter last night and while the premice of the movie was good and the previews made it look interesting, the moving never got off the ground. I'm sorry to the creators but really 1/3rd of the movie had subtitles which was distracting. Too many of the story lines in the movie never went anywhere and there wasn't enough history given as to why the main character stopped doing readings. All the important things were explained away in 5 second snipps. I kept waiting for the interesting thing to happen and then all of a sudden after over 2 hours of waiting for the movie to get going it was over with nothing finished. My advice save your time and money do not invest 2 hours of your life in this store that never gets going.

My cousin is quickly approaching the end of her High School career and she has been contemplating on what the next step will be for her. Trick or Treat

One of the exciting parts about being a parent sometimes is being able to re-live your childhood through the excitement of your children. For us Halloween was always pretty creative as my Mom would have a big box of assorted parts and pieces of costumes that we got to sort through and try to piece a costume together. This year the kids have a couple of requests, my oldest son isn't quite sure what he's up to, but our daughter will be a witch, Kohl is going to be a pirate or a "cat in the hat", that one seems to be harder to find but we did find one online at halloweenadventures.com, they have every costume you could imagine, and our baby wants to be one thing and one thing only an Optimus Prime (Transformer). Spooky time

Halloween is coming and the kids have already planned their costumes out for the big night. I figure I will be working but I am going to try and get the weekend off if I can. Our oldest son thinks he is going to be going out with his friends, and will probably be an "army dude" again. Kohl had decided he wants to be "Bumble Bee" from the Transformers, Blake wants to be "Optimus Prime" also a Transformer and Trinity has been planning on being a "witch" since last Halloween so we will see if everything turns out and they get to be what they would like for the big night.

Fall Colors

We went for a drive this weekend and we were amazed by the quick transformation to the fall colors. There is a beautiful arrangement of red, yellow, orange leaves accross the country side. How great it is to get a phone call from school with good news. Jay's English teacher called and left us a message telling us how great Jay was doing. Jay's average after 2 assignments and tests is over 100%. He went on to tell us that Jay is almost the perfect student that works hard and has the perfect attitude towards school. It was so good to here, he is off to a great start on all his grade 9 work with lot's of fantastic tests coming home so far.

Getting ready for the ski hill

We are getting so excited with Snow season coming up soon, we started skiing as a family late last winter, February on and we managed to go about 8 times in total. New hobby

Instead of crashing back to bed once the kids get off to school this year I wanted to try something new. So now I get up and walk the kids up to school and then I walk down to do my tzone and then I either walk home or walk down to hubby's work to meet him down their. I am feeling so much better and my clothes are fitting so much better, it's great. Now I am really tired by the end of the day but it is so worth it.

Exercise fun

I recently discovered my new favorite pass time activity, on the way home I passed a new building with a sign that said free trial of tzone, 10 mins = 1 hour of exercise. My curiosity peaked I stopped in the next morning for my free trial and then got my membership the next day. It is so much fun and really relaxes my muscles. EMERGENCY LANDING....

Puppy Dog Eyes

Today we took our puppy, Riley in for his neutering surgery. When explaining things to the kids and how he couldn't have puppies anymore Kohl(8) said well Mom he is a boy puppy so he wouldn't have babies anyway. Dog Chew

We arrived home the other day to find the dog had made her mark around the house while we were out. We close her in a bit when we go out, so she basically has access to 3 rooms when we are out. We always take the time to pick things up off the floor because she is a bit of a chewer, but the other day she managed to get the remote down off the coffee table and do a number on it. She apparently decided it was a chew toy and knawed the heck out of it. Outside Backyard Getaway

What a great plan we have for the weekend, for the last 2 summers we haven't been able to get any camping in with the kids because of other vacation plans. The weekend is supposed to be nice and we have a few jobs to do around the yard so it is official, the house is closed for the weekend except for "P" breaks and food preperation. The great thing is we have the BBq in the yard and the pool, and even the camping cheat (electric plug), can't wait for the fun!

Anniversary Getaway

We have official done it now, for the first time in over 10 years we are getting away with NO children to celebrate our Anniversary. Now the down side it is only for one night but I'm sure we will make the most of our one day away with out them all. It took a lot of arrangements to make sure all the kids were looked after but with help from family I'm sure they will survive the one night without us!

Jay's Summer Vaction

Jay has been enjoying a 2 week vacation visit to his Aunt's, he was looking forward to this time for months and originally his vacation was only going to be 1 week but that has turned into 2 weeks and now we just gave permission to allow him to stay another week as we are going on vacation in a week and can pick him up instead of them driving him all the way home. I'm sure he appreciates the time to visit family back home and a little break from his siblings.

Canada Day Relaxation

We decided to try something different for Canada Day this year, we had a BBQ and enjoyed the hot sunny day by the pool. It was very relaxing for a change of pace from our busy year of school and activities and a nice way to start the summer. Hopefully next year we spending the day in Florida at Disney Land for our family vacation if all our planning works out, crossing fingers!

Up goes the pool

With the fence finished it was time to get the pool up, we had a great weekend of weather and got up early Saturday to get the pool up. It went much better than last year and we had the pool up and filling in only a couple of hours. By the end of the day it was pretty much full and the kids were having a great but cold time. We bought a new solar cover and it had done a great job warming up the pool so we aren't pulling ice cubes out of the water when the kids are done.

Fun Fencing Project

Our fence was officially done, it had lasted as long as possible, we patched it up for a couple of years but this year it was having no more and we finally brought it down. We have a pool so bylaw says we need to have a fence so before we could set up the pool we had to get our bob the builder caps on and get the section rebuilt. We are able to patch up and give the rest a fresh coat of stain but the section beside the driveway is replaced now and maybe next year we will continue along the rest. It was a lot of fun working together to get the project done and a little stain it will look great.

Kitchen renovation

Now that we are finishing our kitchen renovations I have decided we need to redo the floor as well. Hubby did such a good job with the rest of the house and we have enough flooring left over so we will take it into the kitchen too. I can't wait to get this done because I really hated the floor now that we have the new stain on the cabinets and the flooring will match perfectly. Another project for Hubby but he needs something to keep him busy at night while I'm at work anyway.

New Flooring

I recently went away with 2 of our kids to a Dance competion leaving 2 kids home with hubby. He took the week off of work so he could be around for the kids, I figured he would be lazy and take the opportunity to sleep every day but to my surprise he acutally replaced all the flooring on the main story of our house. It wasn't a total surprise because I ran into one of his co-workers while away as they were putting in time at the mall before taking a flight to Disney. It was hilarious listening to him make up stories of what he was doing all week when I knew he was doing floors. It was too bad because it would have been a real impressive surprise if I didn't know, I have to give him credit for trying.

Shrek the finally

It's coming, just one more day and we will get to see how the journey ends for our friends in Shrek. Even better it will be in 3d so we get an extra special treat. The kids have been talking about it for weeks, we were hoping to go Friday but I have to work now for one of my co-workers Friday and Saturday so we will be planning on going Sunday instead. Sorry kids you will have to wait a couple of extra days to get there but we will enjoy it together.

I'm Lost

Oh no it had to happen the end of Lost is coming this weekend, I really enjoyed the run while it lasted. This was a show that you really never knew where it was going but just couldn't help but watch once you started. I'm not sure why the finally is Sunday and not the regular day hopefully not too many people miss this and are able to watch the finale.

Time Savings

My friend was having a hard time with her parents, they are elderly and have moved in with them in their home. It was important to have them looked after and they were past the point that they could reliability look after their finances and physical needs on a daily basis. Now that there are extra people in the house she was finding it even harder to find the time to get everything done. Running errands and shopping was a luxury that was hard to find the time to do. Mom, why can't we have anymore babies.

Spending the last week away at dance competition, we had to divide and conquer with one of us staying home with 2 kids and 1 of us at the competition. While enjoying a lounge around the pool with some of the other dance moms Kohl was playing with one of the mom's babies, he was having a good time and asked me if I could have another baby. I told him that we couldn't have anymore babies, oh mommy why not he asked I tried over and over explain things to him and finally decided to put in terms he would understand and told him "daddy had his magic removed", the other girls burst out in laughter and he was finally satisfied with the answer.

Career Decisions

I have often dreamed about making a career choice that I will enjoy after the kids are a little bigger and I can take the time to return to school and learn a new trade. There are all kinds of options out there for me but I would like to take something that I enjoy doing and will allow me to work around my family commitments. I have been looking into beauty schools and located the Regency Cosmetology school in Louisiana, this school has been growing rapidly over the last decade and now has 30 locations to serve their students growing needs. There is lots of hands on training with qualified instructors and help with job placement after the training has finished.

Doggy Daze

It will be a sad day next Monday for our pup Riley, he is heading into the vet to have his de-boying proceedure completed. I feel bad for him but it is a necessary proceedure, we are hoping it will have a calming effect on him but I am hesitant to believe that will happen. It had that effect on his older sister last year and now she is a calm and sometimes lazy pet.

Spring Time

It was a warm evening with not a lot on the go so it was time to take the kids out the park to enjoy the night. They had a blast climbing, jumping and swinging on the equipment. It was a lot of fun and the time ended too soon as the kids had to get home after about an hour so they could get ready for school. It is good to think that they only have a couple of months left until the end of the school year and they will be able to enjoy the summer months.

Late night working

We have been putting down some new floors, the other night after arriving home at 1:45am Matt and Jay were putting down the flooring trying to get a head start on the next days projects. We all worked together for a few hours to finish up and it was a blast working away to the wee hours of the morning.

Puppy Dreamin

Now we love our dogs but recently at dance class we met a cute little Yorkie, he was so adorable and Blake loved hanging out with him. I think perhaps in a couple of years we will look into getting another puppy for our family...our forever puppy as Blake calls them. It will give our pups a chance to grow up and get settled in.

Vacation Planning

We are trying hard to be disciplined to save money so we can go off to Disney next year with the kids. We are starting to see some progress with our finances and with a lot of team work we will be able to make it happen. The kids are finally all at the right age to get them there so we really need to be strong to make it happen as soon as possible.

New Laundry Room

I am so excited, our taxes came back and we are finally able to go out and get that new washer/dryer we have been waiting for. It has been a long few months with our crappy old machine. We thought for a couple of weeks we new exactly what we wanted but on the last day we decided to go a different direction and got a beautiful red front load combo with pedestals. It was the same price as the one we wanted but came with a $400 rebate and had all the same features. The rebate will go towards our family season pass at the ski hill so it's definetly a bonus.

Lost...Really!

I just finished watching another new episode of one of our favorite shows LOST, this show is so well written it keeps you constantly guessing on where it is going with the story. The last few years they would show us flashbacks to get to know where the characters came from and why they were the way they were, now they use flash aheads to show you where they will end up but the question is really how do they end up there? It really keeps you thinking and putting the pieces together week after week.

CSI

I watched the most unique CSI I have seen in a long time tonight, usually it's kind of like well if you haven't seen it before it's almost like another show you've seen. This one takes place on the set of a horror film movie production house. The show had moments of comedy and horror in it and kept me glued the entire show, it was really imaginative and cool.

Wedding vacations

With just celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary we realized that since we had never gone on our honeymoon that it was time to make some plans and get away for some time alone to relax. The hardest thing I am finding is deciding on a destination. We do know that we want to go somewhere warm with lots of sandy beaches so we will be looking into some destination weddings to see what kinds of great deals we can get. It will be very romantic to renew our wedding vows in a beautiful setting with just the two of us. In Cancun we can enjoy our time on the secluded white sand beaches of the Riviera Maya and can take advantage of the resorts Karisma Hotels with inclusive concepts and services that will make this trip a relaxing experience. This honeymoon getaway has been a long time coming but I think it will be well worth the wait!
