HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Well here I am sitting at the computer at 2:00am in the morning. I know I should be in bed but I can't sleep so I guess I may as well be sitting here. It is officially Halloween and my little ghost and goblins are tucked in bed fast asleep with a big day ahead of them and it's going to be a cold Halloween night. How do you go about keeping your kids dressed warm without covering up their costumes....I am going to find myself in a mess when it comes to Trinity's costume, there is nothing I can really do to make it warmer with covering it up. I won't be surprised if I'm out shopping trying to find her a warmer costume.

TURNING 3

Oh where does the time go? On November 1st my baby will turn 3 years old. With the other 3 kids in school it has given me some time to spend with Blake one on one and he is really enjoy his time with mommy. This picture was taken on one of our outings to Walmart. We stopped into the portrait studio to get his birthday pictures taken. Some of our other days we go for walks, play at the playground and sneak in a little lunch at McDonalds. It is so hard to believe that before I know it he will be heading off to school and with the changes in the age cut off for our province, he will be going to school a year earlier than he would have.
I thank God for everyday I have with my children. They are a great blessing and I am proud to be their Mommy and to have them as my children. God Bless my family :0)

A RAINY DAY

With the miserable weather yesterday we just spent the afternoon inside the house. Kohl and Blake got creative with their building blocks and built tall, monstrous towers. This kept them entertained for most of the afternoon but when it came time to clean up the mess they were to tired....(as they always are). We worked together and got the job done just in time for supper then they were off to bed early. Despite the weather our day turned out to be a pretty good one and everyone seemed to get along just fine.

CANCER SUPPORT

Since I haven't yet blogged about Breast Cancer Awareness month I thought I would pass along a great resource that was brought to my attention by Petula from It's a Woman's World.

I have not dealt with breast cancer myself nor do I know of anyone who is or has dealt with it in the past but I have lost family members and have family member dealing with cancer. This is a great site for someone who has cancer, who has survived cancer, has lost someone to cancer or who knows someone who has cancer. This particular resource is a Cancer Support Project which is an online emotional support community. This site can be your community for getting the emotional support you need with cancer.
So I am with Petula in passing along this information to others. I hope you do the same! It's a great resource :0)

REMEMBERING THOSE AT WAR!

I was sent this in an email and was asked to find a way to pass it along to as many people as possible so I thought I would take the time to do this post for all of you to stop and remember our soldiers at war... I'm not asking you to do anything with it, just take a minute and read.

This is a ribbon for soldiers fighting in Iraq . Feel free to share this with everyone and pray.

SLEEP LAST NIGHT?

Bed a little lumpy...

Toss and turn any...

Wish the heat was higher...

Maybe the a/c wasn't on...

Had to go to the john...

Need a drink of water...
?
?
?
Yes.. It is like that!Count your blessings, pray for them,

Talk to your Creator

And the next time when...The other car cuts you off and you must hit the brakes, or you have to park a little further from Walmart than you want to be, or you're served slightly warm food at the restaurant, or you're sitting and cursing the traffic in front of you, or the shower runs out of hot water,

Think of them...Protecting your freedom!
The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute to our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is by taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen.

GET ME THE TYLENOL....!

Drums, yes this is the new thing here at our house. The kids have been asking for drums for quite some time but no way was I about to spend money for more noise in the house. I mean really don't the kids make enough of it already?LOL To be honest it's not all that bad and I really haven't needed any Tylenol yet and the kids are having a blast beating away at them and with the sound of the drums I know where the kids can be found. So where did the drums come from...My husband brought them home on Saturday after taking two loads of junk to the dump! He not usually a garbage picker but he knew how much the kids wanted a set and hey the price was right and they were in pretty good shape. The two younger boys just take turns banging them and thinking they are making music and Jay our 11 year old has turned his sisters dance floor (work in progress) into his comedy hour stage. What a character he is... I was able to get a few video clips of him on the weekend and I'm sure he will appreciate them when he gets older. But I guess like they say" some people's junk is someone else's treasure"!
JUST FOR LAUGHS!...

HOW WE LIVE OUR LIVES

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.

She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?"

I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze.

"Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked.

She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids..."

"No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

"I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me. Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know." As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, "We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.

We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it! There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets."
She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose." She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago.

One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.

Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.

We make a Living by what we get, We make a Life by what we give. God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

"Good friends are like stars.........You don't always see them, but you know they are always there."

INTERNATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY

This morning we participated in the International Walk to School Day with my children's school. I walk them to school every morning but thought it would be nice to walk with the rest of the school in celebration of this day. It was a beautiful day for the walk and the school had a great turn out of students, parents, grandparents and younger siblings. It was really nice to see the kids getting out and supporting their school and getting some exercise.
